In retrospect, having WRFL's Miss Cass on the show was the obvious thing to do, but she was the one who had to remind me of that. So glad she did! We had a big time in the midst of a fake snow-crisis in Lexington — although it did cause us both to be late in our own particular ways..

Eric seemed to be turning into a regular on the show for a few weeks, due to some coincidental music appearances with Ford Theatre and others of his many projects. That's okay. He's a fine fellow who I enjoy hanging out with.

In addition to discussing all things Valentine, and playing a portion of the boundless canon that is Heartbreak Music, we also had a "live" in-studio performance by the Ford Theatre Reunion.

I was thrilled on a number of levels to have Debra Hensley on the show this week. Not only is she an ardent supporter of art, culture and community in Lexington, but she also played an instrumental role, over 20 years ago, in helping to fund an effort to start a college radio station called WRFL.

Debra is so dear to so many people, and I'm among those people.

One of my favorite shows in a long time with the chief Holler Poet, Eric Sutherland, as well as a visit from irascible Lexi artist/activist Bruce Burris on the morning of his first art opening in a decade. Also, a call-in from Tim Buckingham with an update on Kentuckians for the Commonwealth upcoming activities.

That, and just lots of great trivia, including the birthday of the strange and compelling Marjoe Gortner.

"Miss ACE," Rhonda Reeves happily returned to the show this week and we of course had a ball. Rhonda is my ideal guest: smart, acerbic, informed yet self-deprecating, twittery, facebook-y… I could go on, but we do on the show, for two full hours.

Also: how did she manage to tweet so many photos of me and avoid a single one of her? it's part of the Reevesian mystique, I guess. (don't be fooled by old photo)

Was tickled to death to have Curt Mathies as my guest this week. We talked about his dubious radio past at both WKQQ and as PD of WUKY, his time as a Music Director for XM Satellite Radio about life in the High Desert of Southern California, where he lives.

We also had that rarest of things — a real actual "phoner" — with Minneapolitan author Scott Muskin who was coming to town to read from his novel The Annunciations of Hank Meyerson: Mama's Boy and Scholar.

All in all, a great show! One of my favorites in recent memory. I was reminded this week of how much I love radio and how much fun it is.

Terrible audio probs both from a broadcast standpoint and a streaming standpoint couldn't keep Wyn and I from laughin' it up. Mr. Morris was WRFL's 2nd music director, and I, the station's 2nd program director. We got lots of history.

Also, celebrating my return from Burning Man 2009 and the great surprise of Trivial Thursdays being voted Lexington's Best Radio Show (and my blog, Mingle Freely, its best non-commerial blog) by ACEWeekly's Best of Lex ! Thanks for the votes on both counts, friends!
